Three Rivers Stadium opened in 1970 as the new home of the city's pro football and pro baseball teams. Similar to other so-called cookie-cutter stadiums of the era (The Vet in Philadelphia, Riverfront in Cincinnati, etc.), Three Rivers closed in 2000.
