The Portland Storm played in the
World Football League (WFL) in 1974. Playing their home games at old Civic Stadium, the Storm finished with 7 wins, 12 losses, and 1 tie. The GM was former
AFL great Ron Mix, and the head coach was Don Coury, who would return to Portland 11 years later as the coach of the
USFL Breakers.The Storm folded at the end of the 1974 season and were succeeded by the
Thunder for the 1975 WFL season.
