California native Christian Yelich was drafted by Miami in 2010 as a nineteen-year-old prospect. He gradually advanced through the Marlins’ farm system before making his Major League debut mid-way through the 2013 season. In 2018 he was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers. Not only is Yelich a prolific hitter, having won multiple Silver Slugger awards but a talented fielder, capturing a Golden Glove Award in 2014. He was name National League MVP in 2018.
