Minnesota had a team in the inaugural season of the American Basketball Association in 1967, called the Muskies. After one season in the Twin Cities, they moved to Miami to become the Floridians. A few months later, the league champion Pittsburgh Pipers moved to Minnesota for the 1968-69 season, before moving back to Pennsylvania at the end of the season.
