HemisFair Arena was built as part of the 1968 World's Fair, or HemisFair '68 as it was officially called. In the 1973, the Dallas Mavericks of the American Basketball Association moved to town and were renamed the Spurs. They played in the arena until 1993, at which point they moved into the Alamodome.
