Atlanta Flames

The Atlanta Flames joined the National Hockey League (NHL) in 1972 along with the New York Islanders. The team relocated to Calgary in the fall of 1980. In 1999 the NHL returned to Atlanta in 1999 when the Thrashers debuted. They, however, only lasted until 2011 when they also moved to Canada, in this case to become the new incarnation of the Winnipeg Jets.
