After four years in the Nippon Professional Baseball League (NPB) playing for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, Shohei Ohtani crossed the Pacific and joined the Los Angeles Angels in 2018. A versatile player, Ohtani can pitch, patrol the outfield, or be a designated hitter. He holds the record for the fastest pitch by a hurler in the NPB at 102.5 mph. After his first season in Los Angeles, he was crowned American League Rookie of the Year.
