After four years in the Nippon Professional Baseball League (NPB) playing for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, Shohei Ohtani crossed the Pacific to Orange County and joined Los Angeles (AL) in 2018. A versatile player, Ohtani can pitch, patrol the outfield, or be a designated hitter. He holds the record for the fastest pitch by a hurler in the NPB at 102.5 mph. After his first season in Los Angeles, he was crowned AL Rookie of the Year.
