Three-time Cy Young winner Max Scherzer began his big league career in Arizona, debuting on April 29, 2008. He has traded to Detroit in time for the 2010 season. In 2015, he signed as free agent with Washington. On May 11, 2016, he tied the major league nine-inning single-game strikeout record with 20, making him the second player to achieve both a no-hitter and 20 strikeouts over nine innings; in the same game, he became the youngest-ever pitcher to have defeated all 30 MLB teams during his career. After pitching for the 2021 season in Los Angeles, he signed with New York (NL).
